"Hi, my name is Mr. Wright. I know, huh? My parents named my first name 'Mister'! Weird. Anyway, I like to do all kinds of stuff. I really like working with my hands and making stuff. Whether it is art or not, I'll let it be up to the viewer. Currently I am in the Sculpture Room working with clay and students. It is a great medium for exploration, experimenting, and just being playful - which I think is super important for us humans as we get older to not lose the spirit of play. I also teach Fashion Design. This is a new program that I helped get going - and it is growing! I tell the students, "I'm the bus driver, where do you want to go?" The Fashion Design students are great and full of passion! Outside of SDA, I surf, run three days a week, eat pomegranates, and work on my house - which is a big art project! I do have a wife and three kids - two of them go here! I love seeing them everyday. I am blessed! I grew up in Leucadia in the 70's and 80's, traveled a lot in my 20's, only to come back and live in my gramma's house here in Encinitas. Not too far from SDA. I am going on twenty years here at SDA come this November 2022. Wow! 20 years! I am having the most fun I've had in education, and I tell the students, "If I am having fun, you'll fun." I think I've been here so long because the students are wonderful, creative, accepting, expressive, and polite! I couldn't ask for more. Thank you for reading :)"
